Cloud engineering in Karachi

We build, migrate and operate cloud platforms for Karachi's regulated and high-volume businesses, where State Bank rules, month-end transaction peaks and a bad day at a data centre all have to be planned for. Served from our Islamabad office, in the same timezone and invoiced in rupees.

Cloud Engineering for Karachi

Karachi is where Pakistan's regulated money is run. The State Bank of Pakistan is headquartered here, as are most bank and insurance head offices and many of the fintechs, electronic money institutions and microfinance lenders that grew up around them. For an SBP-regulated entity, putting a workload on a public cloud is an outsourcing and technology-risk decision before it is a technical one. The State Bank's rules shape what may be outsourced, where data may sit and what evidence of control the institution must be able to show. We design around those rules from the first diagram, and your compliance function keeps the final word on how they apply.

The second pressure is volume. Payment services, wallet ledgers, FMCG distribution systems and the logistics platforms serving the port run all day and peak hard on salary days, at month end and before Eid. At that scale an outage is counted in failed transactions, so the system has to survive a bad day: a facility running on generators through a long power cut in the summer heat, a network provider having problems, or a fault on one of the subsea cables that bring most of Pakistan's international bandwidth ashore near Karachi. We design failover across zones or sites, and we rehearse it.

Scale also magnifies the currency problem. A dollar-denominated bill that is a rounding error for a startup becomes a line the finance director watches every time the rupee moves. So cost gets engineered like any other requirement: spend attributed to each product and environment, commitments made only on proven baseline load, and a clear record of what runs where. We work with Karachi clients from Islamabad, in the same timezone, and arrange a visit for the moments that need a room, such as a production cutover or an architecture review with your risk committee.

§ 02

What is specific

Built for Karachi

  • State Bank rules as design inputs

Outsourcing and technology-risk requirements affect data location, access control, encryption, key management, logging and the ability to exit a provider. We treat each one as an architecture decision and document the resulting controls in the form your risk, compliance and audit teams need to assess them, rather than leaving someone to reconstruct the evidence after the build.

  • Failover you have actually rehearsed

A recovery plan that has never been run is a hope. We agree recovery point and recovery time targets with the business, replicate data to match them, remove single points of failure in facilities, networks and regions, and run failover drills on a schedule. When a dependency goes quiet, the system degrades in a controlled way instead of failing all at once.

  • Throughput for the month-end rush

Salary credits, bill payments and distributor orders do not arrive evenly. We design for the peak with queues that absorb bursts, idempotent processing so a retried request can never charge twice, database scaling planned ahead of demand, and rate limiting towards partner systems that have their own limits. Then we load-test the pattern before the calendar does it for us.

Scope

What we build

Project delivery, owned end to end, for Karachi clients.

  • Cloud and hybrid architectures for SBP-regulated entities, with data location, access, encryption and logging mapped to your outsourcing and technology-risk obligations
  • Disaster recovery across availability zones, or between a Pakistani data centre and a cloud region, with agreed recovery targets and scheduled drills
  • Transaction infrastructure built for peaks: queues, idempotent processing and database scaling for salary days, month end and Eid
  • Landing zones with segregated accounts, least-privilege access, managed encryption keys and audit trails your internal audit can review
  • FinOps for dollar-billed estates: cost attributed by product and environment, and commitment planning based on proven baseline load
  • Observability and on-call runbooks so a failing dependency is spotted before customers see declined transactions

Cloud Engineering in Karachi: common questions

We are regulated by the State Bank. Can we use AWS or Azure at all?

For some workloads, often yes, within the State Bank's outsourcing and technology-risk requirements and your own board-approved policies. Which systems qualify, where their data may sit and what approvals apply is a compliance determination, and we do not give regulatory opinions. What we do is design architectures that make the controls demonstrable, so your compliance team is assessing something concrete.

How do you plan for a data centre or network failure?

We start by listing the single points of failure: one facility, one upstream link, one region, one database. The business then decides how much data it can afford to lose and how long it can be down, and we design replication and failover to meet those targets. Finally we run the failover for real, on a schedule, because an untested plan tells you nothing.

Our volumes spike at month end. How do you handle that without overpaying all month?

By building for the peak and paying for the average. Queues absorb bursts, stateless services scale out and back automatically, and database capacity is planned ahead of the known calendar rather than bought permanently. Payment paths are made idempotent, so retries under load never create duplicate transactions. We load-test the month-end pattern before it arrives.

Do you have an office in Karachi?

No. Our only office is in Islamabad. Karachi clients work with us on Pakistan time, on a Pakistani contract, billed in rupees. Cloud work suits remote delivery because the systems themselves are remote. For a cutover weekend, a risk committee presentation or a workshop that needs everyone in one room, a visit to Karachi can be arranged.

Can you reduce a large cloud bill without risking stability?

Yes, if it is done in the right order. First we attribute the spend so every cost has an owner. Then we remove waste that carries no stability risk, such as idle non-production environments, orphaned storage and excessive logging. Commitments come next, sized to baseline load. Changes to production are staged with a rollback, never made in one sweep.

Cloud engineering in Karachi?

Tell us what you are building. We work with Karachi clients from our Islamabad office, same timezone and same currency, with no account manager in between, so the person who reads this is the one who would run the work.

  1. 01A senior engineer reads it. Not a form queue, and not an account manager.
  2. 02We reply either with questions or with a straight answer that we are not the right fit.
  3. 03If it looks like a fit, a technical call with the person who would actually run the delivery.
  4. 04Then scope, effort and risk in writing, before anyone signs anything.

Two fields required. We reply to real enquiries. No list, no sequence.
